Dances and balls have long been valuable social gatherings for Mountain Brook and other communities. Debutante balls serve as a means of introducing the city’s young women into adult society. Some of these gatherings, such as the annual Ball of Roses, also raise money for local organizations; the Ball of Roses, held each June, is a benefit for the Alabama Ballet. The gatherings are also an opportunity for friends to gather and make new memories.
